The week of August 20th to 24th
After one more Photoshop lesson on the layers pallet you will get to start your working on your first project.
I will not be able to stay after school on Monday, I have obligations at home this week. If you have an excused absence
that you wish to make up please come during AO period.

Monday

  • I will give a demonstration on using the layers pallet in Photoshop. This will take most of the period.
  • I will return your idea forms, if yours got rejected then you need to redo this for homework tonight.

Tuesday

  • You will begin collecting images to use in your collage. These images should be very large because you will be working on a fairly large canvas (8x10 @ 300dpi) Your images should also be good clear images to begin with, poor photography will still be bad when you use it in your collage.
  • You should look for image on the stock photography sites that are listed in the external links. You can also bring images to scan or images from your personal cameras.
  • Look for objects that you can easily select. Objects on contrasting backgrounds work well.

Wednesday

  • Continue to collect images for your collage. You can begin selecting object from the images when you want. Here are some guidelines for your collage
  1. Work at a file size of 8x10 @ 300 dpi - click file new and choose 8x10 from the custom size menu. You may work on a horizontal or vertical canvas
  2. Your first objective is to make excellent selections of at least five objects to use in your collage.
  3. Your second objective is to create the illusion of three dimensional space by arranging the object using overlapping, changes in scale, atmospheric perspective and object placement.
  4. Your final objective is to create a collage that feels unified and is interesting to see.
  5. This first collage will be due on Friday the 31st. ( if this is too much or too little time I will change the due date. You should work everyday on your art. If you finish early then start a second collage with a new idea
